the video maybe subscribe so here’s my review for prey massive wrenches the first game sponsored by post-it and someone’s spelling half-life 3 Prey graphics art first well luckily I got to spend my time with all three versions beatin it on the Xbox one and then spending a good deal of time today testing it on the ps4 and PC and I have to say surprisingly enough regardless of platform grey looks really good no seriously from start to finish and it’s not just about the excellence of textures or poly count here much of it like the titles folks are going to compare this to is about its level design not diving into the odds firing vistas of let’s say floating circus has gone wrong like BioShock Infinite II nor really going true or likes a dead space but instead you can sort of imagine the developers putting themselves firmly in the center of a room and then basically dragging their foot around in a circle yelling this space is mine right here now it starts with the almost Mirror’s Edge like look to the initial interior spaces they’re clean efficient cut from the world like anything organic is considered holy undesired here there is a very specific reason for this and it’s a Spartan presentation both as a visual break from the later sections but also as your one limited reminder of what was pray holds true to two ideals throughout clean design mixed with mysterious circumstances and while I can’t spoil much I can say that the first time you realize an entire area is like a massive circular hub for secretive travel skipping vast sections once you initially unlock them the tangible echoes of Dark Souls and its serpentine level design are going to be instantly noticed by a lot of gamers but what’s excellent here at least to me is the secrets and the switchbacks and the design how they’re done it’s not the grandiose oh you got to the end of the level instead here it’s a reflection of the current state of the location it’s in it makes sense within the actual title and I can only say this without spoiling things but if you enter a room it’s got two exits there’s a good chance that with experimentation many of them will have three or four exits that they themselves will go off into their own locations unlocking more side quests or information continually as you discover them texture work is excellent across the boards very well done with a couple low detailed textures in specific locations where I think most folks probably wouldn’t look anyway now sadly there are a couple where we would look but overall a high degree of effort and showing the best face of the game at any one time but to me personally it’s the use of the effects and the effects themselves that absolutely began to sort of astound me as I worked through especially the later half of prey from the Wickwire weird essence that floats around in an experiments brood chamber that actually made me physically hold my breath to that shifting and twisting turbulent warping that the enemies perform tear-assing around the level like you’re seeing how the Slenderman moves whenever you’re not looking it’s all done so damned well and almost no effect here is done for no reason allowing for visually clean areas to remain so and then when you pop out into your space garden you can sit back and revel in that atmospheric difference or when it comes to weapons like when you spool up your stun gun you can still make out all the designs of its workings even as it concentrates more energy than those eyes of the storm you’d buy at RadioShack now while the humans are about the status quo I think with the expected detail here and there the enemies can be a bit of a letdown but luckily., I think that’s going to be subjective so I’ll give you the reasons why I think so for me throughout the games highlight was fighting mimics especially when they’re more than one it’s like fighting off a halflife headcrab hopped up on an entire warwick davis worth of cocaine they are difficult to pin down and their ability to flip behind you and change into one of an assortment of random items has you consistently thinking was that frickin cup there a second ago sadly the other enemies at least for me a little bit hit and miss and there is no Big Daddy or even little sister and their Colossus and innocence corrupted co-op that can tag-team into your psyche like those two characters did though I would say later on I feel like some of the best design work actually came back out now when it comes to performance the Xbox one 900p at 30fps ps4 is 1080p at 30fps and of course PC is pretty much any P yet whatever you want as long as you can throw some cash at it even the older i7 920 paired with the 970 was getting rock-solid 60 frames per second at 1440p with just a couple changes to the settings and very little in the way of the technical mess that many experienced by some folks with dishonor to now much of that’s because it’s a totally different engine and I think that shows as a package this is a title that is uniformly excellent it really is about its artistic leanings met out with the technology that they’ve got and I think they do a really good job sound music and voice what’s that thing doing in there huh god damnit show me some mercy in six out
